未完的小說 An Incomplete Novel

Couple of days ago, I received the first draft of a novel from a long lost friend, and I couldn't help myself but burst into tears in the office.

To be a writer (and also a painter) was one of my childhood dreams. Unfortunately, I still haven't found a way to start yet. Probably it's one of the reasons I started the Facts and the Myths of the Tse Family. I am so happy for my friend who has taken a lot of effort and squeezed the time in between busy schedules to finish something he treasures.

I haven't started reading the novel yet, but I promise I will, after 3 Dec.

Marathon Hot-pot

I had hot pot at a friend's place last night, from 7pm to 3am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a fun time and talked about a lot of things. It sure worths the time and lack of sleep.

Good old friends

Except dinner with my family, I still haven't had any b-day meals with anyone this year as I was so terribly busy last couple of weeks.

This afternoon, I had this g-talk:

XXX: wei wei...eat what Weds?

Ida: if you are not buying me dinner, i would like to go Nambantei of Tokyo. we can then ask YYY to buy us ice cream :P

XXX: i think we should be buying you dinner...together with ZZZ...3 of us can share the cost...should be OK

A similar conversation went more than 10 years ago, during university time:

XXX: where do you want to have b-day dinner this year?

Ida: Spaghetti Factory

YYY: (yelling from the back of XXX) if you want to save money, let's go to your place to have pork-chop pasta with cream source!

Disneyland Today!!!!!

So I went and it kept raining heavily all day :( Well, the HK Disneyland is so small that the rain actually made our stay longer or we could leave by noon!

Today is the 1st anniversary of the HK Disneyland. However, I guess 2/3 of the guests were using complimentary tickets like us, cause most of the people we saw were elderly from elderly service centres, people with mental disability from hostels and students and parents from special schools. We rarely saw tourists or people out of those groups, and except the "Winnie the Pooh ride", we didn't need a fast pass at all.

This is the second time I had been to a DisneyX. Last time is the LA Disneyland 10 years ago. I think during the last visit, I (or we were) was more exciting. Today, I only found Disneyland is not something that should appear in HK or Mainland. It totally doesn't fit here.

BTW, if you haven't been to HK Disneyland, my advice is "DON'T GO". It doesn't worth the HK$300+ per ticket.

A friend missing... ...

My friend Florence seems to be missing since the time she quited her job quite sometime ago. I receive her postcards from around the world from time to time but have tremendous difficulty to locate her.

Our gift to Rita and Billy -- a jet poster stand!

Rita and Billy's wedding tomorrow

It's Rita and Billy's wedding tomorrow. Because of this special occasion, we got together to dig out memories from the old days.

I know this couple since university years and they were already together that time. While I was depressed, it's Rita and Billy and others that were by my side to show support.

I am trying to make a powerpoint of old pictures, showing Rita and Billy at different stages together. With each picture, we will invite old friends to share with all the guests at the banquet something about Rita and Billy.

I contacted Alice for some old pictures of the couple yesterday (last minute preparation!). In return, we got a voice clip from Alice telling us the three's friendship, how Rita and Billy care each other, her blessing to the couple. It's so touching. That should be a very special gift to Rita and Billy from a friend far away.

P.S. Thanks to new technology. I communicated with Alice these two days as if she's in HK, but of course, she's in Calgary!
