Haven't left the office so early for a while. I didn't need the magnetic card to pass the gate at the lift lobby downstairs from office, was able to do some (grocery) shopping before dining at home, had plenty of time for my evening walk and some more for a few pages of a good book.

Just couldn't be better.

So this is how we destroy the earth

Pictures taken during the dismantling of our exhibition last night.

At least 95% of our exhibition was tailor made. That means, at the end of the fourth day, everything became "construction waste" and went to the landfill.

Poor mother earth.
























To rewind a bit, this is how it looked during the set-up process. Two major differences between this collage and the next one are there's no carpet and the light wasn't on yet.





















When the light was on. (Pictures taken after the Opening Ceremony on 29 Nov, when there's still some final touch up.) Somehow I think we used too much lighting, which means a lot of electricity! I think we are one of mother earth's greatest enemies.

Sunrise at HKCEC

Seven years ago, I had seen once sunrise at HKCEC while waiting for the results of the LegCo Election 2000.

Today, the day after the LegCo By-election (HKI), I was also at the HKCEC early in the morning, cause it's the last day of the four-day exhibition on Women of HK - A Century of Contribution and Change.

After months of preparation, the exhibition finally came to an end today, and I can finally breath again. Unfortunately, lots of follow up works are also coming and I will be busy for at least a while.

Pictures of the exhibition will be coming soon. Before that, let me introduce the following:

A chart beside my desk showing the status of the production of our 70 exhibition panels, for e.g., if the text and layout are ready, if the panels are confirmed for output, etc. Colleagues came to check out the progress from time to time.

This is the notice board in front of my desk. The one on the top right corner is obviously a wall calendar. The one beside is the floor plan of the exhibition, while the one below the wall calendar is the timetable of our guided tours. They are there to remind me of the works and how many days left, as well as easy discussion with colleagues.

I was at HKCEC since last Wednesday (28 Nov). When I was back to the office tonight, Christmas decoration is already on!

Please check your watch, this is 9:29pm, Saturday, 24 Nov, HK time, and I am still in the office working on the project to the right :~

9:29pm is actually quite early, comparing to my departure times during the past few days -- from 12:20am to 1:10am. Fortunately and unfortunately, this still hasn't broken my record yet.

So this is an exhibition on the development of women in HK from 30 Nov to 3 Dec at Hall 5B, HK Convention and Exhibition Centre. Make sure you drop by and say hi, while I am stationing there starting 28 Nov.

Bye-bye Super Sandwiches

Today is the last day of the Super Sandwiches downstairs from office. We are going to miss it :( Well, not exactly because of the food they served, but because of the lack of places for lunch! Very soon, I am afraid there would be no place for lunch in the surrounding area!

I suddenly remember that I haven't mentioned anything about the TV series I am sort of involved during the last several months. It's a series of 5-minuters on the contribution of local women's groups in women empowerment. Make sure you check out the archive:

136 exhibition boards

I am going to set up an exhibition of 136 exhibition boards this coming Thursday on 8 March, and I only started proof reading last Friday...

So you can imagine how I am going to achieve this -- stayed in the office till 2:30am on Friday and 1:10am on Saturday (not to mention I stepped into the lift lobby of the office building at 8:57am on a Saturday, and only sneaked out for two hours for an Arts Fest show)...

There are still thirty something boards not ready for output on Saturday mid-night, but I am glad that colleagues came back to offer a hand, or I would still be in the office now.

But now, when I can go to bed early, I don't want to sleep! May be due to the two-hour nap in the afternoon.

P.S. Watched the drama version of 1984 tonight. Don't really like it. I don't like the presentation style. I find the book is more dramatic and shocking.

The bird outside the office

Can you see a bird outside the window?

I heard a bird singing while I was at work this afternoon. Our office is at the 10/F, so very often we can see birds flying beside us outside the window. At first, I thought the bird would fly away soon. However, it kept singing for a while, so I stood up and looked out the window -- oh, there you were!

So I took up my mobile, turned it on and took this picture. I tried to zoom in more but by that time the bird was gone.

The bird sang for longer than a minute. Nice music in the middle of a boring afternoon.

Saturday Night @ Office

That was last Saturday, not this one.

Last week, we were preparing for a conference to be held on 18 and 19 June. So, I was stucked at the office on a Saturday night (not to mention the overnight set up on Sunday!). After two solid weeks of greasy Canteen food (the rather expensive cafeteria downstair from office is really called Canteen), I decided to made a change. I bought fruits for supper on my way back to office from my Putonghua class. Here're what we had -- assorted fruits and those in the bags were muffins and ham and cheese sandwich. We had three people in the office that night, and we were almost full after the fruits!

It's 11pm at a Sunday night, and I am on the computer working on an English translation of a video script!!!!!

I had already spent the whole afternoon working on a set of letters! IT'S SUNDAY!!!!! My original plan was to visit the Arts Museum :(

Anyway, I will go next Sunday instead. That's going to be the "world museums day" next weekend. Hope it's not very hot. The celebration events are outside the Arts Museum and Cultural Centre. Hot, hot, hot!

And I am very tired now :(

Why I am in Beijing

This is one of the billboards the organizer of the conference cum exhibition puts on streets around Beijing. You see some of these just outside the BJ airport, and now you know why I stuck here. Two more days to go and then I am home.
